Expertise in the fields of energy,
environment and international development
Graffa has expertise in energy, environment and international development.
Its main areas of activities are following described:
energy planning, environmental modelling, climate change, renewable energies, natural gas, biofuels, land use, agricultural development, life cycle assessment (LCA), global dynamics, circular economy, public policies, and natural resource management.
In its portfolio, the company has already worked on projects of institutional collaboration for energy and climate change affairs between the COPPETEC Foundation of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) and the Brazilian Ministry of the Environment (MMA), through NeoQuanta. More recently, Graffa has contributed, through its founder and director Alexandre Strapasson, to the development of two energy projects commissioned by the British Embassy in Brazil via a public call for bids of the United Kingdom Government’s Prosperity Fund. Alexandre has led both projects, namely: Assessment of Energy Centres in Brazil, which aims at creating an integrated centre at national level; and Gender Equality in the Energy Sector in Brazil. The projects also involve research partners from other institutions, such as the University of São Paulo (USP), the São Paulo College of Technology (FATEC), the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS), and the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). In addition, as a member of both Imperial College London and Graffa Ltd, Alexandre was the lead author of an international consulting project commissioned by Sofiproteol (part of Avril Group, France), under the coordination of LCAworks Ltd., England.
Graffa has also supported an international project in Africa. The project is led by Brazilian researchers from UFMS and implemented a solar-powered water pumping system for irrigating a communal agricultural garden of mothers of family in Campada Maria, Guinea-Bissau.
